Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of CHOIR is responsible for developing and implementing research and programs to advance clinical health outcomes informatics, population health management and analytics strategy. Activities will have an emphasis on strategies that serve to address health inequities. The Director serves as a champion for Loyola and LUHS systems and initiatives related health inequities with a primary goal of advancing evidence-based practice and population health outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in funded clinical outcomes research, setting informatics strategy for clinical and population health management functions, and designing models for effective improvement of clinical quality, cost management and population health performance.
* Share knowledge and insights of healthcare operations, clinical quality improvement and clinical outcomes as necessary to support the center s effort with LUHS .
* Recruit, mentor and assist CHOIR -focused faculty or that participate through center appointments.
* Works across Loyola s schools, departments and institutes to advance health outcomes and informatics research.
* Work directly with LUHS to identify clinical outcomes projects and informatics research opportunities.
* Implement population health strategy, including the development of risk stratification and predictive models, and automated workflows.
* Work directly with supporting institutional departments (e.g., biostatistics, informatics, etc.) to develop resources to support the center s needs.
* Assess and perform return-on-investment ( ROI ) analysis on various clinical and community-based programs supported by center.
* Liaison with organizations and public health agencies (e.g., Cook County Department of Public Health, Edward J. Hines VA, CAPriCORN CDRN , etc.) to help expand local informatics capabilities.
* Work with investigators, administration and information technology to develop and sustain the infrastructure required for interdisciplinary, cutting-edge research utilizing bioinformatics, medical informatics and biostatistics.
* Lead efforts to obtain grant, foundation and/or philanthropic funding to sustain the center.
This is a full-time faculty position with primary responsibilities in research and administration. Appointment in an appropriate academic department will depend on the candidate s expertise.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Required Qualifications:
* Terminal degree (M.D., Ph.D. and/or equivalent)
* Experience in health informatics or related field
* Experience working with EMR platforms
* Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
* Exceptional communication skills
* Previous grant funding in clinical health outcomes, population health or informatics research
Preferred Qualifications:
* Health informatics certification or Master s degree or Fellowship in Medical Informatics ( ABMS )
