Overview

The Department of Psychology at Princeton University is seeking a full-time research specialist in the Stigma and Social Perception Lab, under the supervision of Drs. Stacey Sinclair & Nicole Shelton. The lab conducts research using a variety of methods, including lab-based experiments, surveys, and experience-sampling, to study factors that influence the manifestation and consequences of prejudice.



This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory performance. Start date is negotiable but will ideally start July 1, 2017. Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of research, including:
  • Day-to-day management of a longitudinal study on the racial achievement gap in local schools, including (1) Developing materials and programming experiments, (2) Data collection, data management, and data analysis (3) Hiring, training, and supervising research staff for data collection and data entry, and (4) Managing recruitment and ongoing relations with participating schools
  • Obtaining and analyzing web scraped data
  • Recruiting participants in the Princeton community
  • Miscellaneous research support (e.g., literature searches, IRB management, manuscript and grant preparation)


Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, education or relevant social science field
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and families
  • Be detail-oriented, motivated, efficient, and able to work independently
  • Be able to occasionally work non-standard hours (e.g., evenings, weekends), depending on subject availability
  • A valid New Jersey driver's license
  • The final candidate must successfully pass a background check and approval by Princeton Human Resources

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with large, longitudinal datasets
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS)
  • Strong programming, statistical, or web development skills
