RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Political Science-MIT Governance Lab (MIT GOV/LAB), to manage the day-to-day research activities of the MIT GOV/LAB , a research group conducting research on government accountability and citizen engagement. Responsibilities include assisting the faculty director with designing and implementing research projects; gathering and analyzing data, designing research protocols, and documenting research results for dissemination across a variety of platforms (i.e., scholarly papers, research reports, social media); overseeing research updates for the GOV/LAB website and other external communications; monitoring and coordinating UROPs (undergraduate researchers) and graduate research assistants; keeping current on the latest scholarly research related to political behavior, transparency, accountability, and governance and producing short research updates to be shared through research reports and social media; interfacing with relevant scholars, partners, and practitioner networks to facilitate the lab's outreach work, including helping organize an annual research conference or workshop; performing other administrative, financial, and clerical duties as necessary to support own or director's activities, including publicity, program registration, field research, and library and Internet research; and keeping a log of lab research activities and providing the director with research project updates.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: master's degree, demonstrated experience independently analyzing data using statistical programs such as R and Stata, superior written and oral communication skills, flexibility, initiative, and ability to work as part of a team and as an independent researcher. Individuals pursuing or are recent recipients of a Ph.D. in political science, public policy, public administration, or related field are preferred. Will also consider those with at least three years' field experience in political behavior and governance research. Research experience in governance, international development, and/or political behavior preferred. Job #14751
