Primary Function:
The Disability Resource Center department is seeking qualified part-time Learning Disabilities Specialists to provide diagnostic procedures to verify eligibility for services provided to those with learning disabilities under the California Community Colleges guidelines, verifying eligibility using testing and documentation available from sources outside the California College system, and provide appropriate educational accommodations, recommendations and referrals. In addition, the position may teach instructional support and disability management courses for students with disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Must meet one of the sets of qualifications listed under a) through b):
a) A Masters degree in disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology, or rehabilitation counseling; AND fifteen semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of disability.

b) A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of the qualifications above. You must complete and attach the Application for Equivalency form (www.palomar.edu/hr/equivalency-app/), if you do not possess the specific minimum qualifications as stated above, which includes degrees that have not been awarded at the time of submitting the application.

Only coursework completed at, and degrees awarded by, accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education will be considered as satisfying the minimum qualifications. Coursework and degrees that are completed outside of the United States are required to have transcripts evaluated (evaluation to U.S. equivalency and a course by course analysis) by an appropriate U.S. credentials evaluation service. For a list of credentials evaluation agencies accepted by Palomar College, visit the National Association of Credentials Evaluation Services (NACES) website at www.naces.org.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
a) Learning Disabilities Eligibility and Services Model (LDESM) certified
b) Recent experience administering and interpreting the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WIAS) IV, Woodcock Johnson IV, and other applicable assessments
c) Experience in assisting students with learning disabilities with application of learning strategies and methodologies
d) Experience working effectively as a member of a team providing support to students with learning disabilities
