Office Manager

This position will serve as the Office Manager for the Child Development and Child Study Centers by developing and maintaining a record system to insure adequate information history and audit trails for compliance with licensing requirements, as well as USDA requirements and collecting tuition payments and responding to parents' requests for information regarding upcoming events, community resources, program happenings, teachers' and center's functioning.

Working knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques. Working knowledge of accounting & bookkeeping practices. Working knowledge of information systems and computer software to include Microsoft Office products. Strong oral and written communication to include the demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail. Effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to relate well to children, parents, vendors, and university personnel.

Special licenses, registration or certification
Required to have and maintain CPR , First Aid and Medication Administration certificates or the ability to obtain these certifications within 30 days.

Education or training
None

Level and type of experience
Considerable experience in an administrative support role such as an Administrative Assistant or Office Manager. Basic experience providing fiscal and HR support.

Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
Working knowledge of Virginia Department of Social Services Child Care Licensing Standards. Knowledge of child care policies and procedures. Working knowledge of ODU and state procurement and travel policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to lead and direct the work of others. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Some experience in child care setting. Some experience within a university setting.

Conditions of Employment
This position is designated as sensitive and a fingerprint-based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate. Virginia Department of Social Services background check will be required.

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate
Salary commensurate with education and experience
