Overview

Campus Venue Services, a division of University Services, provides a broad range of event, performance, venue, and access support and services for the Princeton University community. The Venue Services unit oversees the facility operations and event support at the Frist Campus Center, 701 Carnegie Center, Chancellor Green, the Julis Romo Rabinowitz Building and Louis A. Simpson Building, supporting tenants, event presenters, users, and guests. The Performing Arts Services unit provides house management, ticketing, and production support at Richardson Auditorium, Frist Theater, and, per request, at theaters across campus.



The Venue Associate provides a broad range of support services for the Lewis Center for the Arts and Department of Music complex. The Venue Associate serves as the nighttime and weekend facility lead for the venue, coordinating a cross-departmental team providing house management, production, and facility support. Working collaboratively with the Performing Arts Services and University Ticketing divisions of Campus Venue Services, the Venue Associate provides operational support of rehearsals, events, performances, and guest services.



The Venue Associate manages a team of student workers, casual employees, and volunteers, providing house event services, including front of house management and ticketing, for all events in the facility. The Associate provides and helps coordinate supplemental production support, including lights, sound, video, and staging, in public spaces and when requested in the Lewis Center for the Arts and Department of Music departmental spaces.



The Associate helps coordinate the service team, including Building Services, Grounds and Building Maintenance, Site Protection, OIT, Campus Dining, Print and Mail Services, and Transportation and Parking Services, in the support of building access, event logistics and setup, media and technical assistance, facility maintenance, deliveries, and guest services. The Venue Associate works closely with Public Safety on overall building security, maintaining a safe venue environment, security in the facility, and emergency procedures. Assisting with the conservation of the furnishings and equipment in public spaces, the Associate creates and tracks work orders for facility needs.



Working in concert with the service team, the Venue Associate fosters excellent relationships with the academic departments housed in the facility, ensuring the needs of the supported groups and programs are met and the support is delivered to meet the needs of the users and guests. With high visibility and a proactive approach, the Venue Associate is readily available to address the needs of users of the facility.



With an emphasis on excellent customer service, the Venue Associate will provide broad support for the building and users of the space. The Associate will maintain excellent communications with the Venue Manager, service team, supported departments, and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of daily operations of the space during nights and weekends (primarily second shift 3pm-11pm or 4pm-midnight), including guest experience, department needs, event support, and supervision of student workers, casual professional staff and volunteers providing support


  • House management for events in the arts complex, including supervision of house and ticketing staff


  • Production support and supervision, including management of events in common spaces and supplemental production support for the Department of Music and Lewis Center for the Arts


  • Assistance with facilitating and monitoring work requests for venue upkeep, repair, and replacement of furnishings and equipment, working collaboratively with Facilities and vendors


  • Assistance with communications to departments and service team


  • Other duties as assigned

The principal duties and responsibilities of the Venue Associate include the ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing needs, able to work autonomously and with initiative, and be adept at problem solving. The Associate must interact effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside the University, and possess the judgment and discretion needed to handle confidential information.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma and three years of experience in relevant work
  • Experience in the arts (either/or: performance, guest services, artist services, production)
  • Demonstrated experience in providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work second shift hours - typically 3pm-11pm or 4pm-midnight
  • Ability to work weekdays and weekends
  • Ability to work with a flexible schedule, including the ability to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays and long hours




PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's Degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with performing arts house management
  • Experience with performing arts production support, including audio, video, staging, and lighting
  • Experience and working knowledge of academic settings
  • Demonstrated experience managing student staff
  • Proficient computer skills
