Family Nurse Practitioner Specialty Coordinator

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The FNP Specialty Coordinator will work closely with the Director of the Nursing Programs to ensure that the quality of the FNP track of the DNP program meets all standards identified by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty, and all other regulatory and compliance requirements, such as state Boards of Nursing, that students are satisfied with their educational experience, and that program learning outcomes are achieved for each student.
LOCATION:
Candidate may be based at any of our four campuses (St. Augustine, FL - Miami, FL - San Marcos, CA - Austin, TX).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include:
  • Compose and update accreditation documents specific to the FNP track
  • Coordinate course development for the FNP specialty courses, including recruitment and recommendation of hire of the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for the FNP specialty courses.
  • Recruit contributing faculty for the FNP specialty courses.
  • Serve as faculty for assigned courses.
  • Serve as lead instructor or course coordinator for the FNP specialty courses and/or other nursing courses.
  • Lead course evaluation of the FNP specialty courses.
  • Serve as coordinator for on-campus residencies.
  • Review and score applicants using an admission rubric and prioritize applicants for admission to the FNP track of the DNP program.
  • Ensure that FNP students are assigned a faculty advisor at the beginning of the program.
  • Work with the Clinical Education department to ensure optimal practicum placement for FNP students.
  • Ensure that DNP projects produced by FNP students as the terminal scholarly product of the DNP program is of high quality and meet expectations of a DNP scholarly project as described by AACN.


External Requirements
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
May perform other duties and responsibilities that management deems necessary from time to time.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Travel related to on-campus residencies required each term.

MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors the performance of subject matter experts for course development and contributing faculty and provides feedback to the Director of Nursing Programs.

PROBLEM SOLVING:
The FNP track coordinator will work with FNP students to resolve barriers to their quality education. He (she) will also work with the Director of Nursing Programs to resolve curricular, process, or structure issues identified in the FNP track of the DNP program

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Terminal degree in nursing (DNP or PhD) required
  • Completion of an FNP program at masters or doctoral level required
  • Minimum one year experience an FNP required
  • Minimum one year teaching experience, preferably online
LICENSURE and/or CERTIFICATION:
  • APRN license
  • FNP certification or eligibility in multiple states (FL, CA, TX and others as required)
BUSINESS COMPETENCIES:
Must possess exemplary communication skills and emotional intelligence for working with students and faculty.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment, but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary.
