Post Doctoral Fellow

Job Overview:

The School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems have an immediate opening for a post-doctoral fellow to join a research group developing multiscale models of nitric oxide mechanisms in the microcirculation. 

Essential Functions:

The research group is working on a unique multi-scale mathematical model to provide quantitative information regarding mechanisms governing nitric oxide activity in the microcirculation and using real-time in vitro and in vivo experiments to validate the model. The post-doctoral fellow is expected to focus on the development of the model and to help integrate intracellular nitric oxide production and transport data with extracellular, vascular and tissue transport properties under normal and pathological conditions.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a related field such as bioengineering, biological sciences, mathematics or physics and should have a strong background and interest in computational modeling. The applicant must have a foundation in advanced mathematics and numerical analysis, understanding of physiology and in particular the principles underlying the structure and transport in the circulation. Experience in technical computing is essential and background in 3-D software packages such as Comsol is desirable.

The research project is funded by a multiple-year grant from the NIH.
