Elgin Community College (ECC) is a comprehensive, fully accredited community college located in Elgin, Illinois, one of its most rapidly growing cities. Part-Time position for Summer 2017
6/12/2017 - 7/13/2017
Up to 5 hours per week

Function:

Upward Bound instructors have the responsibility to develop curriculum in their area of expertise that will provide instruction as well as enrichment experiences for participants. Instructors are expected to provide a positive learning environment, serve as positive role models, and be supportive of the Upward Bound objectives. The instructors report to the Assistant Director/Academic Coordinator.

Essential Responsibilities:

1) Develop course syllabus
2) Develop course curriculum
3) Provide instruction as assigned
4) Evaluate each participant's performance
5) Attend Upward Bound staff meetings and Upward Bound in service training
6) Maintain accurate records on each participant
7) Participate in Awards Night and other activities
8) Perform other duties assigned Requirements:

1) Bachelor's degree in appropriate field of study: Political Science History, U.S. Government, Civics
2) Two years experience teaching

Desired Qualifications:
1) Certification in teaching field; preferred but not required
2) Must have demonstrated sensitivity to the academic and personal needs of economically and academically disadvantaged youth
3) Prefer person with background similar to target population
