Visiting Faculty Position in Anatomic Pathology, REVISED AND REPOSTED

The University of Connecticut is seeking a veterinary anatomic pathologist to fill a one-year annually renewable, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Pathobiology and Veterinary Science, College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources, University of Connecticut.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is for pathology-related service in the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (CVMDL) with Veterinary Residency teaching responsibilities. The successful candidate will share rotations with other faculty pathologists on necropsy and mail-in services of the CVMDL at the Storrs campus. The successful candidate will instruct and share supervision of veterinarians in the combined Anatomic Pathology Residency/Graduate program.

The CVMDL boasts a broad range of species accessions that includes, agricultural, companion, exotic, wildlife, laboratory and aquatic species. Case materials are received from State, New England and National farms, veterinary practitioners, institutional veterinarians, aquaria, zoological collections, and marine laboratories. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

DVM, VMD or equivalent degree; ACVP board certification, or equivalent qualification/training in veterinary pathology or board eligible candidates who have completed a 3 year residency programs; diagnostic pathology service experience with multiple species and excellent oral and written communication skills. For the Associate level, a record of scholarly productivity that would support the rank of Associate Professor including publications and a research pipeline to support sustained scholarly contributions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced degree in veterinary pathology or related field; demonstrated interest in training veterinarians and doctoral students; the ability to contribute through research, teaching and/or service and community engagement to the diversity and excellence of the department's mission.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is an 11 month annually renewable appointment, contingent upon funding and performance, with an anticipated start date of September 11, 2017. Rank and salary is competitive and will be commensurate with the successful candidate's background and experience.
