Admission Counselor


Brief Summary:

Primary responsible for speaking to prospective students and their families about Marist through high school visits, college fairs, information sessions and campus visits. Conduct freshman application readings, serve as liaison for Athletics team(s), manage College's virtual tour, facilitate campus donation requests, co-organize annual Mid-Hudson Valley Consortium, and assist in managing the admission office student workers.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage geographic territory by analyzing multiple data sources to develop and create an extensive travel, recruitment, communication and outreach plan to drive new student enrollment in support of the strategic goals of the college.
  • Review and make admission decisions on traditional undergraduate applications to Marist. Thoroughly evaluate student credentials and personal qualities. Serve as a member of the Admission and Scholarship Committee which renders final admission and merit award decisions for all applicants.
  • Conduct information sessions and college fairs/nights, meeting with prospective students and their families. Prepare and revise presentations as needed to ensure appropriate information for audience (e.g., general, specific academic area, honor program)
  • Answer incoming phone calls and emails that come through the Marist Admission Office from prospective students and their families. Provide guidance to students, parents, and guidance counselors.
  • Update U-Visit, including revising and developing content and making recommendations on additional changes. Obtain pertinent information for tour from various departments and stakeholders.
  • Serve as liaison to Athletics team(s) to determine the admissibility of student athletes and level of potential scholarship award.
  • Manage donation requests to community organizations.
  • Organize Mid-Hudson Valley Consortium, which is an annual two-day event held for guidance counselors in the regional area. Assist in the organization of activities and meetings for the day, and provide oversight for logistics and day-to-day operations.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required. Ideal candidates will have student work experience in the Admission Office and exhibit strong communication skills. Candidates should be able to function on an independent basis, as well as in a collaborative team environment. Flexible schedule is necessary, as night and weekend work is often required. Expected to have a positive attitude, good analytical ability, and strong work ethic. Valid drivers license with no serious convictions required.
