Overview
The McBride Lab in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University is seeking a research specialist to support research on the molecular and evolutionary basis of host-seeking behavior in the dengue fever mosquito. This will be a unique opportunity to assist in exciting interdisciplinary research on mosquitoes.
Responsibilities
The job responsibilities will include
- General maintenance of the lab and mosquito colonies
- Research assistance on such projects involving mosquito breeding, transgenesis, behavioral experiments, molecular biology, high throughput sequencing etc.
Qualifications
The interested candidate should have a bachelor's degree in biology or related field and previous experience in a research laboratory (beyond lab classes). It is essential that candidates be organized, detail-oriented, and demonstrate enthusiasm for working and communicating with others in a collaborative lab setting. Previous experience rearing insects and carrying out molecular biology protocols in a research setting is preferred. A demonstrated interest in evolution, neuroscience, and genetics is also preferred.
