Overview

The Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory, a world-leading fusion energy research center under contract with the U. S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking a full time computational plasma physicist at the Staff Research scientist level in the area of large-scale computing, focusing on either edge physics research using gyrokinetic codes, or data management and analysis for gyrokinetic fusion codes and experiments.

Responsibilities

Topics within edge physics include multiscale studies of turbulence and neoclassical physics in the pedestal and scrape-off layer. The data management focus is on enhancing the usability and analysis capabilities available for extreme-scale gyrokinetic codes and fusion experiments.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in plasma physics, computer science, applied mathematics or related field. Candidates with prior related experience including postdoctoral training are preferred. Communication and writing skills in English as well as the ability to work in a large, distributed group are required.Send a curriculum vitae and bibliography, and arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent as soon as possible for full consideration.
