Faculty Full-time Flex Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program

UNIVERSITY OF ST. AUGUSTINE FOR HEALTH SCIENCES This is a full-time core faculty position with teaching, scholarship, advisement, and service responsibilities for the campus Flex DPT program. This position requires significant contact with students and faculty at all USA campuses. Virtual and weekend on-campus interaction with students is required.

Responsibilities:

Online and laboratory teaching in areas of expertise, advising, and in the assessment of student learning
Serving on programmatic and University committees
Scholarship based on an established research agenda
Service to community and professional association

External Requirements
1. Effectively manages and teaches assigned courses
a. Provides current, organized, error free instructional materials
b. Maintains lab/online environment conducive to learning by developing creative, challenging and evidence-based learning opportunities
c. Monitors student progress; gives feedback and advisement as necessary; facilitates student participation in learning activities
d. Assesses student performance on practical and/or written examinations. Provides data for outcome assessments
e. When applicable, communicates with course coordinators and others involved in teaching assigned courses to ensure consistency; problem solves and suggests changes in a course and across campuses
f. Submits grades, student course evaluations and other required outcomes in an accurate and timely fashion
g. Performs course coordinator or lead instructor roles as assigned

2. Advisement
a. Advises entry-level students as assigned

3. Scholarship
a. Establishes an approved scholarship plan and implements the plan as prescribed by accreditation standards
b. Participates in activities that enhance scholarship and professional development

4. Service
a. Participates in university governance, curriculum planning, programmatic and institutional assessment activities, and functions to support development and growth of the institution as assigned per faculty handbook
b. Serves as university liaison in community and/or professional activities
c. Actively participates in his/her professional association

5. University Representative
a. Supports the University's mission and core values
b. Upholds student and resident faculty handbook policies and University policies/procedures

6. Professional Development
a. Promotes professionalism by modeling such behaviors inside and outside the classroom setting
b. Completes annual self-evaluation of performance and sets goals for the next year in collaboration with the program director
c. Uses release time that enhances the program (e.g. - clinical practice, consultation, advanced degrees, research) as approved by the program director
d. Maintains expertise and currency in the content areas being taught
e. Participates in professional development activities to maintain knowledge of contemporary practices in education

7. Other Duties as Assigned Qualifications/Experience :

Salary and rank are commensurate with credentials and experience. Applications will be reviewed immediately and ongoing until the position is filled
  • PT or DPT (DPT preferred) with post-professional academic degree and/or specialist certification
  • Terminal degree (PhD, DHSc, EdD) preferred (faculty without terminal degrees are expected to work toward a terminal degree as a condition of continued employment)
  • Higher education academic teaching experience preferred
  • Experience with distance education teaching and/or learning preferred
  • Strong professional values with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team setting
  • Strong commitment to professionalism and the core values of the profession and the university
