Job Description
The Assistant Director, Fraternity Sorority Life provides advising and leadership development programs to the Fraternity & Sorority Life community. Provides advisement, guidance, and direction to governing councils and umbrella organizations. Oversees and monitors council, umbrella organizations, and Fraternity & Sorority Life budgets and provides leadership to the Office of Student Involvement in the absence of the Director.

Required Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field.
Two years of full time experience leading and developing a medium-sized fraternity & sorority life community, student involvement, student organization management or closely related area in a university setting.
Two years of Graduate Assistant and/or intern experience may count as one year of full time experience.
Experience operating a personal computer and proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications
Three or more years of full time, post-master's experience leading and developing a medium-sized fraternity & sorority life community, student involvement, student organization management or closely related area in a university setting.
Experience with supervising full-time staff.
Experience in Student Conduct administration; risk management expertise; demonstrated experience in developing civic engagement projects for student organizations.
Undergraduate membership in an inter/national fraternity or sorority.
Professional team player who advocates and demonstrates balance for university, student, and advisor interests.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of leadership theories and a variety of models of practice as they relate to college students.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, community members, and staff.
Ability to work as member of a team as well as independently.
Ability to think creatively and meet student developmental needs.
Ability to organize, manage, and complete multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent oral, written, facilitator, and interpersonal skills.

Salary Range
$47,000 - $50,000

Job Duties

Essential Job Duties
•Provides advising and leadership development programs for a comprehensive Fraternity & Sorority Life community (individual organizations/chapters and Governing Councils) in organizational, leadership, and program development, wellness programs, risk management, Title IX, scholarship, service, career preparedness, membership recruitment and development, and regular assessment of effectiveness, in conjunction with the Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life.
•Directly supervises Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life.
•Works with Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life to provide advisement, guidance, and direction to governing councils and umbrella organizations (Inter-fraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Panhellenic Association, Order of Omega, and Greek Programming Council).
•Develops and implements best practices in leadership programming including educational workshops, retreats, risk management workshops, leadership recognition programs, philanthropic civic engagement, alcohol and wellness programming, Responsible Hosting Workshops, career preparedness workshops, and Greek Week.
•Oversees the accounting of Council and Umbrella Organization budgets.
•Coordinates formal and informal fraternity and sorority recruitment and all intake efforts with Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life.
•Oversees Panhellenic Formal Recruitment Process in conjunction with Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life.
•Coordinates expansion/extension processes for all councils utilizing best practices in innovative ways.
•Serves as chair of the Hazing Prevention Team and ensures appropriate stakeholder representation on the committee.
•Collaborates professionally with academic departments and Student Affairs colleagues to ensure support and recognition of Greek and student organization members.
•Accompanies student leaders to select state/regional/national conferences.
•Evaluates and implements proactive and efficient policies and procedures which include best practices in the field.
•Oversees the Talon Assessment Program, including assessment and recognition.
•Provides leadership to the Office of Student Involvement in the absence of the Director.
•Provides leadership in developing new student life programs for fraternity and sorority life members.
•Coordinates the production of Office of Student Involvement newsletter each fall and spring semester.
•Serves as member of the Dean of Students' Care Team and assists in managing crises as needed under the direction of the Dean of Students.
•Develops and implements an efficient process for Organization and Council registration, Event Registration, travel, risk management, and purchases.
•Oversees data collection and database management for fraternities and sororities.
•Maintains active and current records on membership, conduct matters, retention, and scholastic achievement.
•Oversees development and marketing of information to keep the campus aware of current events, responsibilities, and deadlines of the Fraternity & Sorority Community.
•Implements and oversees innovative strategies to increase membership and retention of fraternities and sororities and their members.
•Attends related student activities and events to maintain visibility and accessibility to stakeholders and students.
•Develops annual reports, strategic plan, and assessment plan for Fraternity and Sorority Life Program.
•Approves Expenditures.
•Develops budget recommendations.
•Receives cash, checks and/or credit card payments. Must be PCI Compliant.
•Charges and/or reconciles P-Card Functions.
