Director of International Programs


Brief Summary:

Marist International Programs promotes international engagement and academic, personal, and professional development through rigorous, reflective study abroad, overseas internships, and international/intercultural campus programming. Marist offers students a variety of study abroad experiences (on six continents) that support a broad range of educational objectives, enabling Marist students of any major to study abroad and graduate according to their planned schedule. Reporting to the Dean of International Programs, the Director will provide leadership in study abroad pre-departure, advising, and post-study abroad programs; review of policy and procedure; assessment and enrollment data generation and reporting; provide supervisory assistance for Marist Abroad and Marist Italy programs; coordinate specific study abroad programs; and assist in the development of new overseas programs and sites. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and collaborative leader and colleague with a clear commitment to developing strong and innovative international and intercultural programs.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees pre-departure, advising, and post-study abroad program processes
  • Ongoing review and revision of study abroad procedure and policy
  • Outcomes assessment, Open Doors reporting, and other data generation and analysis
  • Coordination of particular study abroad programs
  • Departmental expenditure review and approval
  • Mentor staff to promote a collaborative, efficient, and positive work environment
  • Nurture positive relationships on behalf of the International Programs office
  • Assist the Dean in the development of new international programs and sites
  • Represent the Dean of International Programs when the Dean is traveling overseas
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

Master's degree required, doctorate a plus. Minimum five years' experience in international programs/education abroad. Home campus experience as well as direct experience leading overseas programs strongly preferred. Attention to detail and strong inter-personal, inter-cultural, written, and verbal skills. Personal undergraduate study abroad (or equivalent) experience required. Fluency in English and at least one additional language preferred. Strong quantitative skills and knowledge of budgets. Advanced computer skills including graphics, InDesign, and Photoshop preferred. Knowledge of technologies used in education abroad (e.g., Horizons, Studio Abroad) a plus. SEVIS experience desirable. Strong social media skills across a variety of current platforms. Ability to work well and communicate effectively with a wide range of college administrators, faculty, students, and parents. Flexibility, creativity, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both in a team and individually in a fast-paced environment. Strong motivation, project management, and supervisory skills.
