Brief Summary:

The psychology department in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Marist College invites applications for the tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin the fall of 2017. The department offers an undergraduate psychology major and minor, and supports graduate programs in mental health counseling and school psychology. Marist College places a high priority on the creation of an environment supportive of the promotion of ethnic minorities, women, persons with disabilities, veterans, and persons from other under-represented groups and strongly encourages applicants who can support this mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Applicants should be flexible with regard to teaching assignments and confident in their abilities to teach courses in research methods and statistics. Applicants should be prepared to teach courses within their areas of expertise and will need to demonstrate the ability to develop lab courses that lead to increased understanding of the impact of social issues on human functioning across contexts. The expected course load for our faculty is 3:4. Applicants should be engaged in ongoing research activities and enthusiastic about working to support undergraduate students' research projects.

Qualifications:

We are seeking candidates with an earned doctorate in Psychology or a related social or behavioral science field by May 2017. Areas of specialization are open, and the psychology department is interested in providing students with opportunities to understand the application of psychological and behavioral principles to issues such as social inequality and disparities, behavioral health, diversity, and inclusiveness. We also welcome candidates with the ability to promote community-based research collaborations. Priority will be given to candidates who can model and foster an interdisciplinary, integrative approach to human wellbeing at individual, group, and community levels. College level teaching experience is preferred; competence in the use of instructional technology is expected.
