Overview

The Health Professions Advising Office at Princeton supports a diverse student population preparing for careers in health care, public health, and non-medical fields that relate to healthcare (e.g., health care consulting, public policy, international health system development). We are currently seeking a Health Professions Adviser to fulfill a full time, nine month position during the academic year.

Through individual and group advising, the Adviser will guide students in their academic and co-curricular choices, with special emphasis on first-years and sophomores; monitor students' progress through the pre-health experience; help students understand the diverse opportunities within health professions; and refer students to other resources on campus, as appropriate. The Health Professions Adviser will be expected to collaborate with a broader advising team within the Office of the Dean of the College, including faculty advisers and professional staff in the residential colleges.

The Adviser will provide resources and education around issues in global health and public health and support the Global Health and Health Policy (GHP) certificate program. Student interest in global health and public health has significantly increased in recent years—the undergraduate GHP certificate program attracts about 60-70 students per year, many of whom pursue careers in medicine, public health, and other realms within the health sector. The Adviser will also create and maintain a database of GHP alumni, including their career paths and contact details, and will serve as a resource for connecting students with GHP alumni who share their career interests in the health sector.

The Adviser will report to both the director of Health Professions Advising within the Office of the Dean of the College and the director of Global Health Programs within the Center for Health and Wellbeing / Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and will serve as a liaison between the two offices.

This is a full-time, nine-month position, early September through early June. The position is suitable for an entry level professional with an interest in student advising, health professions advising, or higher education administration. The successful applicant must be available in early September; a May start date is also possible. For full consideration, please apply by April 15.
