Salary:

$8,255.10 [step 1] $10,055.47 [step 5]. A maximum placement of step 5 is negotiable dependent upon education and experience. Administrators that possess earned doctorates from accredited institutions are awarded an annual stipend of $1,370.76.

Job Duties:

Responsible for administering and overseeing all operations of the Palomar College Police Department (Police Department) and District parking services; plans, organizes and directs the law enforcement and emergency management functions of Police Department; provides general direction of department personnel; oversees the patrol operations of the San Marcos campus and education centers; provides for the safety and security of all persons at Palomar College; oversees investigations of citizen complaints; acts as the appointing authority for all Police Department personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience: Ten years of progressively responsible and demonstrated law enforcement experience, including two years of supervision and management responsibility with a POST law enforcement agency.

NOTE:
o For work experience, a year is defined as equivalent to 40 hours per week for 12 months.
o If the position requires supervisory experience, the experience must be at a professional level (i.e. evaluation and/or discipline of staff).

AND

Education: A bachelors degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a field related to the responsibilities of the position.

Only coursework completed at, and degrees awarded by, accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education will be considered as satisfying the minimum qualifications. Coursework and degrees that are completed outside of the United States are required to have transcripts evaluated (evaluation to U.S. equivalency and a course by course analysis) by an appropriate U.S. credentials evaluation service.
