ASSISTANT | ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF NURSING

The position of the Assistant | Associate Professor of Nursing is a tenure track faculty position in the School of Nursing within the College of Education and Health Professions. The start date for this position is August 1, 2017.

This position requires expertise in the area of family nurse practitioner. The successful candidate will teach nursing in the online graduate program; mentor FNP students; work as a family nurse practitioner in a clinic, hospital, or private practice setting; contribute to scholarly activity in the field through presentations, research, and publications; perform service and administrative activities necessary to enhance the schools, colleges, and university mission of the school; and possess an understanding of technology as a tool for effective teaching. Excellence in teaching, contributions to scholarly activities as defined by the School of Nursing and service engagement are expected.

A doctoral degree is recommended. A Master’s degree of Nursing from a family nurse practitioner program is required. Experience working as a family nurse practitioner is needed. Previous teaching experience in a graduate program is preferred. A valid nursing license in Georgia is required (if valid in another state, will need to seek licensure in Georgia). For a tenure track position, a doctorate is required.

Preference will be given to candidates who have evidence of successful teaching at the college level in both traditional and online environments.

The School of Nursing at Columbus State University graduates a diverse body of nearly 150 students annually. It offers a traditional BSN for students seeking an RN license and three online degree programs: an RN-BSN for licensed RNs with an Associate degree; a Master’s of Science in Nursing (education, leadership, and information tracks); and a Master’s of Science in Nursing in Family Nurse Practitioner. Both MSN programs are offered in collaboration with Georgia Southwestern State University. International opportunities are available as study abroad in Ireland, and a student service in Ecuador. Currently, over 85 percent of our nursing graduates pass the NCLEX, the National Nursing Licensure Exam, a testament to the quality of the program and faculty.
