Graphic Design Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Kendall College is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our Marketing Services team. This role reports to the Director of Marketing Services for projects such as: marketing collateral, outdoor signage, promotional materials, trade show booth signage, website, social media, digital, video and more.

The Graphic Design Manager is responsible for translating Kendall College's mission and brand tenants to the community at large. Responsible for coordinating and managing design projects from concept to completion with deans, events, student services, admissions and the marketing team and partners. Works cross-functionally to employ best practices for integrated graphic communications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures branding standards are consistent, maintained and in-line with design and brand standards across all Kendall College marketing materials and assets
  • Collaborates with peers to present best design practices across the organization, this includes creating editable templates for the entire organization to use
  • Reviews creative brief content and provide appropriate input to ensure information is actionable prior to starting the design process
  • Conceptualizes, develops and executes quality layouts for all marketing collateral; digital and print
  • Presents creative concepts to department heads, with thoughtful and strategic rationale
  • Day-to-day work includes photo manipulation, custom illustration, typography, PowerPoint presentations and animation of digital ads
  • Prepares final assets to meet specific print production guidelines at high levels of accuracy and efficiency
  • Produces digital materials for websites, mobile, social and PPC ad placement
  • Manages digital photo library; proficient in digital asset organization and management
  • Serves as primary contact for printing vendors and responsible for acquiring quotes and managing in-hand delivery dates for all professionally printed material
  • Creates purchase orders in Birchstreet system for various departments
  • Makes proactive recommendations to streamline and improve creative processes
  • Maintain knowledge of creative marketing trends and best practices
  • Oversees, receives support from, and offers guidance to a graphic design intern, as well as managing his/her work schedule and project load
  • Administrative duties as assigned
  • Assist with Marketing events (includes a handful of nights and weekends per year)


External Requirements
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or related field
  • 4-6 years of graphic design experience in all aspects of design (advertising, promotional items, sales collateral, pre-press, website, digital and print) preferably in the academic field
  • Expert in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Takes creative direction and feedback
  • Brings positive energy to work and to the team
  • Solid knowledge of the print production process (e.g., optimizing graphics, compression settings and file size and image optimization, packaging files for print, etc.)
  • Great organizational skills
  • Superior time management skills, creative problem solving skills and strong initiative to complete projects on time
  • Expert multi-tasker (includes organizing and prioritizing workload and working efficiently under pressure in a deadline-driven environment)
  • Detail-oriented, creative and self-motivated
  • Collaborative, professional and great team player
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS a plus
