Job Description
The Assistant Women's Swimming & Diving Coach provides assistance to the Head Coach with activities associated with the Women's Swimming & Diving Intercollegiate Athletics program and student athletes, including recruitment, monitoring academic performance and social development, maintaining discipline and development programs, fundraising activities, coordinating summer camp, pre-and post-conditioning programs, practice, and competitions.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
One year of coaching experience at the collegiate level or above; or three years of coaching experience at the high school level.
Current knowledge of NCAA rules.
Ability to pass the NCAA certification test annually.
Current Swim Coaches Safety certification and CPR / AED certification or ability to obtain within two months of employment.
Valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout the country.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
Collegiate coaching experience.
Demonstrated commitment to rules/policy compliance, as well as, demonstrated commitment to student-athlete success both academically and athletically.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of all aspects of the sport of swimming & diving and the ability to teach/coach collegiate student-athletes toward acquisition of those skills.
Demonstrated management, organizational and communication skills.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and the ability to pass the annual NCAA Certification test.
Strong commitment to maintain compliance with NCAA rules/policies and to guide student-athletes toward successful completion of an undergraduate degree while participating in intercollegiate athletics.

Salary Range
$38,000 - $40,000

Job Duties

Essential Job Duties
•Provides assistance to the Head Swimming Coach with activities associated with the program and student athletes, including recruitment, monitoring academic performance and social development, maintaining discipline and development programs, fundraising activities, and coordinating summer camp, pre and post-conditioning programs, practice, and competitions.
•Assists in the recruitment of student athletes. Attends off campus meets for the purpose of evaluation and contact. Coordinates mailing of recruitment materials and recruiting information. Maintains contact with prospective student-athletes. Plans campus visits with prospective student-athletes and their parents.
•Prepares, plans, conducts, and evaluates practice sessions. Teaches individuals and groups of swimmers specific tasks and skills before, during, and after practice, on and off-season.
•Attends and works all non-championship and championship segment meets, including traveling to and from meet sites, monitoring of student-athletes while on-and-off campus, and developing game meet plans with coaching staff.
•Administers travel arrangements for team. Schedules practice times for the road. Transports prospects and student athletes to events, practice, and competitions as needed. Supervises and assigns responsibilities to the team managers and volunteer assistants.
•Maintains equipment inventory and oversees distribution to athletes. Follows FGCU procedures in handling the ordering of supplies and any funds that flow through the athletic program.
•Coordinates all enrollment activities of student-athletes. Mentors academic progress and class attendance of student-athletes and intervenes when necessary. Helps establish requirements for team members in terms of academic and athletic progress.
•Plans long and short term team objectives. Participates in annual continuing education programs.
•Responsible for proper handling of university funds as it pertains to ethical and budget issues.
•Complies with all University, Atlantic Sun Conference, or Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association ( CCSA ) regulations, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations. Remains current with all changes in NCAA , as well as changes to University, Atlantic Sun Conference, and CCSA rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations and participation in the annual NCAA continuing education programs, including passing the NCAA certification test. Any violation of NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
