School Nurse (summer program)


Brief Summary:

The Marist Upward Bound Program was founded in 1966. It is a federally funded college preparatory program designed to generate in participants the skills and motivation necessary to persist in completing their secondary education and enter and complete a program of postsecondary education. Marist College Upward Bound currently serves over 100 youths from two senior high schools located in Dutchess and Orange counties. http://www.marist.edu/academics/upwardbound/index.html

The Summer Program is scheduled to start on Sunday, June 25, 2017 through August 4, 2017. The Nurse will need to start by June 7, 2017, at least on a part-time basis. The Nurse will serve as the 2017 Summer Program's Health Coordinator. The nurse will review all student health forms to confirm that the required documents and immunization records are current and completed. We need to ensure that all students are cleared to reside on campus prior to Opening Day ensuring the program is in compliance with all Dutchess County Department of Health regulations.


From June 7 until Opening Day the nurse is responsible for contacting parents and/or physicians to clarify, collect, and maintain the health records. This will reduce the number of consultations on Opening Day.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conducts initial health form screening, monitors and provides daily health care to comply with NYS Children's Camp requirements. Coordinates with parents and medical personnel to secure documentations, handles emergencies, injuries, dispenses medications, maintains camp log and prepares NYS reports when necessary.


Qualifications:

Full-time registered or licensed practical nurse with First Aid and CPR certification for Emergency Responders required.
