Brief Summary:
The Marist Upward Bound Program was founded in 1966. It is a federally funded college preparatory program designed to generate in participants the skills and motivation necessary to persist in completing their secondary education and enter and complete a program of postsecondary education. Marist College Upward Bound currently serves over 100 youths from two senior high schools located in Dutchess and Orange counties. http://www.marist.edu/academics/upwardbound/index.html The Marist Upward Bound Program is seeking applicants for residential and non-residential positions for the summer program, which runs from June 25 through August 4, 2017, generally Sunday-Thursday. All of the following positions are contingent upon funding. Employment for residential positions is from June 19-August 4 this includes training and post program activities. Instructors and counselors must attend an afterschool orientation on Wednesday, June 22 and post-program activities. Hours and salary for positions depend on shift (mornings, afternoons, or evenings) and part-time or full-time status.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The counselor works with students on a daily basis conducting workshops, providing personal, academic and/or career counseling, and assists with the supervision of interns. This is a non-residential, part-time position.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in counseling, social work, education, or psychology required; master's degree preferred.
