Overview

The lab of Dr. Yael Niv at Princeton University is seeking a research specialist to work on translational computational neuroscience studies as part of the newly formed Rutgers-Princeton Center for Computational Cognitive Neuropsychiatry (ccnp.princeton.edu).

The successful candidate will be exceptionally talented and motivated, with a clinical research background and a keen interest in applying methods from computational cognitive modeling to help understand and treat mental illness. The specific area of research is flexible, including anxiety and mood disorders, addiction, PTSD, OCD, schizophrenia. We are particularly looking for someone with initiative and creative ideas who will help chart a path for the lab in transitioning to research in the emerging field of computational psychiatry.

Responsibilities

• Design and carry out behavioral and neuroimaging experiments on patient populations and healthy controls.
  
• Use computational and statistical models to analyze the results of these experiments, and to publish them.
  
• Disseminate findings through presentations in conferences and meetings
  
• Further training to keep abreast with the field (reading papers, attending seminars and conferences)
  

Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate with an advanced (post-graduate) degree in clinical or experimental psychology (MA, post-bac Honors degree or equivalent). A strong track record of computational modeling research and experience with empirical research on mental illness and psychiatric populations is required. Other requirements are proven experience with behavioral experiments (decision making/psychophysics) and model-based data analysis, including computational modeling (machine learning, reinforcement learning, Bayesian models), and proficiency with computer programming (Matlab, Python, R or equivalent) and strong analytical and quantitative skills.

The final candidate will be required to complete a background check successfully.
