Overview

The group of Johannes Haushofer in the Department of Psychology and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University has several openings for research specialists. We are interested in understanding the psychological and neurobiological consequences of poverty, and their implications for economic choice. We conduct lab and field experiments in both developing and developed countries, using approaches from neurobiology, psychology, and economics.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will assist with all aspects of research, including developing experiments, recruiting participants, collecting behavioral data, analyzing data, programming, miscellaneous research support, and administrative duties. Some travel to the field (especially Kenya) is envisaged.

Initial appointment is for one year with possibility for renewal pending satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, psychology, neuroscience, or related field
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Strong managerial and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous research experience in designing and conducting field and/or lab experiments
  • Training and experience in development economics, behavioral economics, and/or neuroendocrinology
  • Training in statistics/econometrics
  • Programming experience (STATA, Matlab)
  • Previous experience conducting research in developing countries
