Overview

The Department of Psychology at Princeton University is seeking a full-time research specialist, under the supervision of Dr. Lauren Emberson in the Laboratory for Perception, Learning and Development and the Princeton Baby Lab.



The ideal candidate will have a strong neuroscience/technical background. A demonstrated ability for successful communication and interaction with children and families is also strongly desired. Candidates with advanced degrees will also be considered. This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory performance. Start date is negotiable but will ideally start June 1, 2017. Please submit a CV, a cover letter describing academic and research goals, as well as technical and research experience. Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of neuroimaging studies from programming experiments and data collection to data analysis. The lab uses multiple imaging modalities (fMRI, fNIRS) with infants, children and adults. This is an exciting position as the successful candidate will be involved in developing new analyses for fNIRS and conduct neuroimaging recordings with infants in a clinical/hospital setting (e.g., NICU, maternity ward).

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

- A bachelor's degree in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, computer science, engineering, physics, or math

- Evidence of serious interest in a career in cognitive neuroscience.

- Strong computer/math skills (e.g., MATLAB, R)

- Be able to get tasks done efficiently

- Be detail-oriented, motivated, organized and be able to work independently

- Be able to occasionally work non-standard hours (e.g., evenings, weekends), depending on subject availability

- Ability to communicate effectively with children and families

- The final candidate must successfully pass a background check and approval by Princeton Human Resources



Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience conducting cognitive neuroscience research

- Experience with statistical software (e.g., R)

- Extensive programming experience, ideally with R, MATLAB and0 Psychtoolbox

- Prior experience working with infants, children or families in a research setting

The final candidate will be required to complete a background check successfully.
