Art Education Lecturer

Primary responsibilities will include, teaching regularly scheduled classes; coordinating, supervising, and managing student teacher field placements and service learning activities, curriculum development, and liaison between the Art Department and the Darden College of Education. The successful candidate will under direction of the Department Chair, ensure the Art Ed area's compliance with state and national accreditation standards; act as the liaison and accreditation representative for NASAD and NCATE to implement all requirements and mandates related to teaching licensure from state and academic accrediting agencies.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Successful K-12 art teaching experience, at least one year of successful college teaching experience.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Art Education by the time of appointment.

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification

Preferred Qualifications
Broad knowledge of current issues in art education; evidence of creative and professional teaching; demonstrated experience with service Learning activities; excellent oral and written communication skills; and prior experience in arts advocacy, program administration, K-12 professional development and supervision of student teachers and a commitment to inclusive learning on the undergraduate level.
