INTERNAL MEDICINE - PULMONARY/CRITICAL CARE INTENSIVIST

Job Description: The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at East Carolina University seeks an Intensivist to help provide clinical service to the Medical ICU, Cardiac Surgery ICU, as well as the Cardiac ICU located at Vidant Medical Center (VMC) and The East Carolina Heart Institute.

This individual will also serve as the MICU Director. Duties as MICU director will include participation in MICU clinical call schedule along with rounding at least one week per month; helping to develop and oversee educational activities for all members of the multidisciplinary care team; engaging in, coordinating and overseeing research initiatives; and various administrative duties.

The successful candidate will join our academic group at a rank commensurate with qualifications; tenure track or fixed-term appointment available at the rank / title of Assistant Professor or higher.

This is a flexible position which allows for participation in other academic, research and clinical pursuits. The Division is clinically productive, highly respected and actively involved in the training of medical students, residents and pulmonary/critical care fellows through our affiliation with a single 861-bed tertiary care hospital.

Division expansion is fueled by growth of the medical complex and added emphasis on translational research, including a large clinical base and a lung biology group.

The Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with VMC. VMC is a level 1 trauma center that is home to a 24-bed Medical ICU and 8-bed Respiratory Intermediate Unit. VMC has been ranked one of the top 50 teaching hospitals in the United States.


Minimum Qualifications: A current North Carolina medical license is required.

MD is required.

5 years of experience and be Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care.
