Starting salary range: $58,382.79 $92,764.61 annually.

Academic training and teaching experience will form the basis for salary computation as determined by placement on the regular salary schedule of the College. Job Duties:

The Assistant Professor, Psychology is primarily responsible for teaching a variety of courses in the discipline of psychology. Specifically, these courses include five psychology classes per semester, to primarily include Introduction to Psychology. Based on the background and interests of the selected candidate and discipline enrollment growth trends, other teaching assignments may include any course in our catalog, particularly those relevant to Transfer Associate Arts degree (AA-T) courses.

The Psychology discipline is part of the Behavioral Sciences Department, a multidisciplinary department consisting of psychology, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, alcohol and other drug studies, and religious studies. The multidisciplinary nature of the department provides a unique and invaluable opportunity to learn and interact with colleagues from a variety of academic backgrounds and areas of expertise. In addition, given the consistently high enrollment at Palomar College, we are able to offer a broad range of undergraduate classes in psychology, which allows our faculty considerable freedom and flexibility in their teaching schedules.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must meet one of the sets of qualifications listed under a) through c):

a) A Masters degree in psychology.
b) A Masters degree in counseling, sociology, statistics, neuroscience, or social work AND a bachelors degree in psychology.
c) A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of the qualifications in either a) or b) above. You must complete and attach the Application for Equivalency form (www.palomar.edu/hr/equivalency-app/), if you do not possess the specific minimum qualifications as stated above, which includes degrees that have not been awarded at the time of submitting the application.

Only coursework completed at, and degrees awarded by, accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education will be considered as satisfying the minimum qualifications. Coursework and degrees that are completed outside of the United States are required to have transcripts evaluated (evaluation to U.S. equivalency and a course by course analysis) by an appropriate U.S. credentials evaluation service.
