Academic Director and Senior Lecturer, Integrated Design and Management (IDM)

ACADEMIC DIRECTOR AND SENIOR LECTURER, System Design and Management Program- Integrated Design and Management (IDM) , to serve as part of IDM's leadership and teaching team. Will be the primary contact to both teach and lead IDM's integrated core and help guide a diverse and experienced student cohort through the program. Academic responsibilities include serving as the lead instructor for the IDM Core Curriculum and the year-long curriculum of integrated design and management; managing student teams; integrating materials and methods workshops with curricular and project work; leading efforts to evaluate and update core course content based on best practices/current thinking; organizing and leading thesis seminar series; establishing and growing--with the executive director--research relationships between with other MIT departments and working with the IDM partner liaison to foster engagement with partners to facilitate application of integrated design methodology; overseeing the student course planning process; and providing academic input for and leading academic sessions with industry partners. Will also assist with student advising activities, serve on the admissions committee, participate in strategy development, supervise the academic administrator, and perform other duties as requested.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: university-level teaching experience; minimum of ten years' total experience managing and/or teaching design, engineering, or business; understanding of integrated design education and a vision for its future; excellent teaching skills; ability to work closely with and guide students from a wide range of backgrounds; strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with faculty and staff across MIT and with senior corporate leaders; team orientation; and discretion and judgment with confidential issues/information. Master's degree in a design-related engineering or management field, professional experience in industry, and experience working in a global environment are preferred. Job #14467-P


There will be 20% domestic and international travel. Occasional night and weekend work can also be expected.
