Part-time Intern - Course Content Developer

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Course Content Developer is responsible for the development of college-level content for online courses. As part of a highly collaborative team, the Course Content Developer will assume responsibility of translating content developed by the subject-matter expert into digital format in the learning management system (Blackboard) using already developed college design and production standards. The process will also include collaborating with the subject-matter expert to plan and organize content, edit and revise content, and create visual and interactive elements. The Course Content Developer has an overarching responsibility for ensuring both the integrity and excellence of the final product. This is a temporary position, which would be best assumed by a recent graduate of a bachelor's level degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, or related field.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop digital course content, in collaboration with the subject-matter expert, including learning activities and assessments, according to current, research-based ideas in online learning and Kendall College's new development model and quality standards.
  • Create custom graphics and edit stock photography to support development.
  • Copyedit content for errors, style, accuracy, and meaning.
  • Ensure all course elements align with the designated layouts and design.
  • Work closely with the Center for Teaching and Learning team to assure media represents best practices in education and aligns with course and project objectives.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.


External Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Recent graduate of a bachelor's level degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education, or related field.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, which include a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing, and grammar and a strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis skills required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively and adapt and function successfully in a high-volume, sometimes stressful team environment.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills; productive, efficient work habits and the ability to prioritize, multitask, and exhibit flexibility.
  • Must be precise, thorough, and detail-oriented.
  • Intermediate-level of proficiency in using the Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in online learning/teaching and/or Web-based technologies is a big plus.
  • Graphic design and production experience (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite and Captivate) is a big plus.
