Assistant Professor, Environmental Science & Policy


Brief Summary:

The Department of Environmental Science & Policy at Marist College is seeking a highly qualified individual to join as a tenure track faculty. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative environment focused on promoting the department as the region's premier environmental science program. Located on the Hudson River, Marist College is ideally located for environmental science research and teaching with easy access to numerous field sites. Preference will be given to candidates proposing to conduct research taking advantage of our location on the Hudson River and resources which includes an on-campus River Laboratory, a 28-foot research and teaching vessel, and a variety of lab-based and portable analytical equipment such as a suitcase GCMS and handheld XRF.

This full-time 9 month position requires teaching and mentoring students' research.


Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teaching courses related to environmental science • Coordinating course development with faculty • Advising students and mentoring research projects • Engaging in scholarly work • Providing service to the Department, School, College, and Community

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in a higher education setting and effective communication and collaborative skills in a team-oriented environment. In addition, the following are requirements for the position:

  • Possess an earned academic doctorate (PhD) from an accredited university in a field related to Environmental Science
  • Show enthusiasm for teaching undergraduates and excellent teaching skills
  • Demonstrate engagement in research that has resulted in peer-reviewed publications
  • Showing evidence of funded research is preferred
  • Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
