University President, Kendall College

The President is responsible for the attainment of all institutional goals and objectives in accordance with the university's mission and strategic vision. The President provides academic and operational oversight and is fiscally accountable for all institutional units. The President maintains effective relationships with relevant accrediting bodies and regulatory agencies in order to fulfill expectations for quality assurance and compliance. The President is responsible for building strong and collaborative relationships among institutions and support services within the Laureate network. The President is highly visible to all levels of the community and routinely interacts with constituent groups, including students, alumni, faculty, staff, administration, government officials, regulators, business community, educational institutions, and media.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Vision and Strategic Direction
  • Provide strategic direction for the institution that expands global access, adopts innovative delivery formats, and introduces market-relevant product offerings.
  • Adapt and promote strategic priorities and corresponding initiatives for the institution in concert with overarching Laureate priorities.
  • Lead the development and implementation of multi-year strategic, financial, infrastructure and assessment plans.

Academic Excellence and Quality Assurance
  • Set direction for academic programs to align with strategic plan and operational imperatives.
  • Create and sustain a culture of academic excellence, cross functional collaboration, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage programmatic and institutional accreditation with regional and national accrediting bodies.

Financial and Performance Management:
  • Obtain, cultivate, and effectively mobilize resources to meet strategic plan and objectives.
  • Plan and administer the institution's annual budget and manage profit and loss statements to ensure fiscal stability in a for-profit environment. Oversee and deliver desired financial results, ensuring the institution grows revenues and earnings before interest, taxes and depreciation (EBITDA) according to approved budgets and long range plans.
  • Implement infrastructure plan to meets the academic and community needs including facilities and technology.
  • Meet student growth goals by expanding enrollment and improving retention.
  • Hire and develop a high-performance team of administrators, faculty and staff that work collaboratively to achieve institutional objectives. Motivate within a creative environment.

External Relations
  • Advance the reputation and visibility of the institution with key constituencies.
  • Strengthens industry partnerships to provide student practical experience and employment opportunities.
  • Establish new collaborations with Laureate institutions worldwide, Laureate support services, community colleges, and universities.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with local, state, and national governmental and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and nurture relationship with Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Kendall's regional accrediting body.
  • Foster a campus climate that values diversity among faculty, staff and student populations.

Governance and Compliance
  • Work collaboratively with the institutional board to advance major policy decisions and formulate strategic and budget plans to advance the university's mission and goals. Foster communication with and among all members of the Board.
  • Ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are managed that create a healthy and safe work environment for students, faculty, staff, administrators, and the community.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Board.

External Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • An advanced degree required including Masters, Postgraduate, Juris Doctorate, PhD. Earned doctorate, PhD or equivalent from an accredited college or university is preferred with extensive business experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of general management experience in a growing enterprise. Must have demonstrated and significant prior P&L responsibility.

The candidate should demonstrate experience in:

Leadership and Management Complexity :
  • Directly leading organizations within a high growth environment including challenging revenue targets, diverse personnel, creative marketing approaches, and new infrastructure investments. Managing a start-up or turnaround operation is highly preferred.
  • A collaborative, highly matrix environment with multiple direct and indirect reporting structures throughout the organization.
  • Guiding highly regulated environments and processes including accreditations and compliance.
  • Directly accountable for a profit & loss statement and/or performing within established budgets and long range plans.
Approach :
  • Developing new programs/products and services with innovation and agility to meet diverse target market needs. Building the necessary organizational culture to support this environment.
  • Making strategic decisions using strong business acumen and market driven insight.
  • Creating and executing practical educational, commercial, operational, and fiscal plans to meet clear objectives.
  • Communicating recommendations and strategic direction persuasively to key stakeholders.
