Job Description
The Outdoor Pursuits Graduate Assistant will provide leadership in the areas of outdoor adventure trips, Eagle Challenge Course programming, outdoor skills clinics, and equipment rentals.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a regional accredited institution.
Demonstrated experience with outdoor adventure programming.
Application will be considered if degree is conferred by start date.

Preferred Qualifications
Wilderness First Aid Certification

Salary Range
$14.00 per hour

Job Duties

Essential Job Duties
•Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of all programming areas. This includes, but is not limited to, outdoor gear rentals, outdoor skill clinics, trips, and challenge course programs.
•Assist in creating programs that are intentionally designed, and well sequenced, to provide appropriate skill development progressions for beginner to advanced participants.
•Assist in the daily operations of all Outdoor Pursuits programming areas; outdoor equipment rentals, waterfront rentals, trips, and challenge course.
•Ensuring monthly inventory and inspection of all program related gear are completed.
•Maintaining an orderly and efficient bike repair area.
•Assisting with researching and purchasing new gear and storage materials for the program areas.
•Assist with hiring, training and supervising of a student staff of 15-20 rental specialists, challenge course facilitators, and assistant trips leaders.
•Assist in creating effective trainings to provide opportunities for students to grow in the core skill areas.
•Assist in bi-monthly in-service trainings for student staff.

Other Duties
•Participate in staff development activities sponsored by FGCU , Division of Student Affairs, and/or the Department of Campus Recreation.
•Represent the Department of Campus Recreation as needed within the University and surrounding community.
•Available to take on other duties as assigned by the Outdoor Pursuits Coordinator.
•Serve on departmental committees as assigned.
•Maintain daily office hours. Some early morning, late evening, and weekend work will be required.

This position is contingent on acceptance to a graduate program.
This is a temporary, non-benefit earning, part-time position; approximately 25 hours per week.
