The Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware seeks to fill a continuing-track faculty position in Agricultural Entomology at the Assistant Professor level. The position has responsibilities in 25% scholarship and 75% extension.The agricultural entomologist will develop a visible and applied research and extension education program for diverse audiences in agricultural communities, including farm organizations, non-governmental conservation organizations, state and federal governmental agencies, industry, and the general public. The successful candidate will need to build a research program using external funding from agencies such as USDA-NIFA, NSF, FDA, USGS, USEPA, USFWS and other federal and state agencies and industry or growers' groups concerned with agricultural entomology. This position has a strong focus on extension with priority research areas in pest management related to crops, irrigation, climate change and integrated pest management. The candidate should focus on arthropods in agricultural systems and must be responsive to producers, collaborate with key agricultural industry and multi-state regional research projects, publish research in peer-reviewed journals, and mentor graduate students. The faculty member will also be expected to interact with state and federal agencies and agricultural organizations and businesses, including producers, environmental interest groups, and colleagues at other institutions in the mid-Atlantic region in the development of the regional recommendations for the pest management guide. The research and extension education effort will involve collaborations with professionals and stakeholders at the Carvel Research and Education Center in Georgetown, DE.

The Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources has 13 faculty, 1 extension specialists, and 15 affiliated faculty. S Elbert N. and Ann V. Carvel Research and Education Center is located in Georgetown, DE and will be the primary location for this position. The Carvel facility's 26,000 square foot office, labs, and classroom space is surrounded by 344 acres of agricultural research land and the adjacent Lasher Laboratory, a world-class poultry diagnostic lab. In addition, the Carvel Research and Education Center is home to Sussex County Cooperative Extension, whose agents and volunteers deliver university-based knowledge to a diverse group of people. SALARY: University of Delaware salaries and fringe benefit packages are highly competitive. The salary is paid over 12 months; faculty are expected to focus primarily on research during the summer months, and additional summer salary may be sought through grants.

Qualifications
Ph.D. in entomology or closely related discipline. Post-doctoral experience preferred with a demonstrated publication record in peer-reviewed journals, ability to work with growers and extension, and successfully garnering extramural funding.
