Job Description:
Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies, the part-time Graduate Career Advisor provides career-related counseling and programming to foreign-trained LL.M. students and alumni. Duties include developing programs specifically targeted to the LL.M. student population, offering individual counseling appointments with LL.M. students on issues including career goals, internship opportunities within the United States and internationally, and long-term employment opportunities domestically and abroad, and developing relationships with employers who may offer internships or employment opportunities to graduates of the LLM programs. This position also serves as the liaison to the Career Development Office, and has responsibility for reporting on employment outcomes for LL.M. alumni to the Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies.

Qualifications:

• Three to five years experience in career advising, legal recruiting, or practicing law.
• A bachelor's degree in a related discipline, including but not limited to law, business management, foreign area studies, or foreign languages
• A master's degree in a related discipline or a law degree would be an advantage but not required
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Superb listening, communication and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal, organizational & planning skills
• Self-motivated and self-directed
• Highly detail-oriented
• Ability to manage processes and projects
• Ability to work well with others at various levels, particularly persons from foreign cultures
