Assistant/Associate/Professor


Position Summary:

The Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences (PSM) is inviting applications for a tenure system position at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level for individuals studying maize genomics. This position is part of MSU's Global Impact Initiative that will recruit 100 top-level researchers to MSU over the next five years. MSU has a vibrant plant science community comprising more than 150 faculty members conducting a wide range of plant research spanning the lab-to-field continuum in both natural and

agricultural ecosystems. We are seeking candidates who address compelling research questions in maize, using population-, quantitative-, physiological- and/or developmental genomics/genetics. Candidates with experience in computational methods to process, analyze, and interpret large-scale plant "omic" datasets are especially encouraged to apply. We seek colleagues with exceptional promise to be leaders in their field.



Successful applicants will contribute to undergraduate and/or graduate teaching and maintain an externally funded research program.



PSM is a multi-disciplinary department, with current faculty appointed in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR; http://www.canr.msu.edu/). Successful candidates may also be affiliated with multiple interdepartmental programs, such as Plant Breeding Genetics and Biotechnology. Appointed faculty will also be affiliated with MSU AgBioResearch (http://agbioresearch.msu.edu/).
Faculty: Minimum Qualifications Support Staff: Minimum Requirements

A Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) in Genetics, Molecular Biology, or Plant Breeding and Genetics, or a related field, is required for consideration. For positions filled at the rank of Associate and Professor, a strong record of extramural funding is required. For positions filled at the rank of Associate and Professor, a strong record of extramural funding is required.
Desired Qualifications:

Postdoctoral research experience is preferred. Applicants should have a strong record of accomplishments and publications. Further, evidence of past or ongoing successful collaborations is desired, and evidence of multidisciplinary collaborations will be viewed favorably.
