Senior Development Writer

This position serves as the proposal and grant writer in the Office of Development. This position will identify, define, develop and submit highly competitive proposals to support existing and planned program activities to receive funding from local/regional/national foundations. This position is also responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting data on the performance of program activities that are funded by public and private sources.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree. Considerable years of fundraising/development related writing experience with universities, corporations, or non-profit organizations. Proficiency in writing highly-competitive proposals in a fast-paced environment that clearly articulates the need for funding and the significance of the program- for submission to major, local/regional/national, foundations. Demonstrated knowledge of funding needs and priorities for fundraising in a non-profit organization. Solid understanding of budgets as they relate to proposals and grants. Excellent research and analytical skills are essential. Candidates must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and highly-organized, and have experience using online databases and other sources to locate biographical, financial, and philanthropic information. A high level of computer literacy required, including familiarity with Foundation Center databases. Ability to work well under pressure and the ability to seek and synthesize information and communicate in a compelling and succinct form.
