INSTRUCTORS, School of Engineering-Office of Engineering Outreach Programs (multiple positions, part-time), to support middle school students along the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) pipeline. Will teach and develop curriculum for one of the following SEED courses: environmental engineering, engineering design, or biomedical engineering; foster an open and positive learning environment that encourages students to ask questions and be active participants; and provide students with the resources and guidance necessary for learning the fundamental concepts in their course, with emphasis on developing skills that will help students succeed in technical STEM fields. OEOP's mission is to diversify the science and engineering community by serving students from underrepresented and underserved backgrounds and empowering these students to develop the skills and confidence needed to pursue careers in technical fields.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a bachelor's degree (graduate degree preferred); detailed knowledge of and strong interest, background, and experience in the engineering field related to the course; a strong desire to mentor and teach; and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Teaching and mentoring experience preferred, as is experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and high achieving academic skills. Job #14284


This is a temporary position. The course semester will run from February 25 to May13, 2017, but will require independent prep and evaluation work 1.5 to two weeks prior to and following the course, so full employment will run from mid-February to late-May. Will work eight hours on Saturdays when class is held (eight days total), with two-hours prep time during the week between class meetings.
