PT Faculty - English Program

General Summary:

The Laureate English Program at Kendall College currently seeks a Part-Time Faculty Member to teach intensive English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses to international students whose first language is not English.

Spring courses begin on Monday, April 10 and run ten (10) weeks in duration, followed by a final exams week. Courses meet for ten (10) hours per week-with sections meeting on Monday/Wednesday/Friday, or Tuesday/Thursday. After the first quarter, upon satisfactory performance, there is the possibility of returning for subsequent quarters.

Responsibilities include:
  • Teaching of assigned courses, including all responsibilities related to grading and record keeping
  • Lesson planning based on curricular course outcomes and core assignments
  • Maintaining Blackboard course site and online attendance records
  • Engaging in on-going professional and faculty development opportunities
  • Providing student support in the form of conferences, regular office hours, tutorial assistance and career/academic assistance
  • Participating in departmental placement and calibration meetings
  • Attendance at faculty meetings
  • Development of curriculum and assessment materials, as needed
  • Providing leadership/mentoring to new instructors, as needed
  • Maintaining office hours
  • Other duties, as assigned


External Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree required in TESOL, linguistics or related field
  • Classroom teaching experience of international students at the college level
  • Experience teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
  • Ability to teach and to motivate students by means of student-centered activities and active learning
  • Ability to create dynamic, creative lessons using real-world materials
  • Ability to integrate technology into the classroom
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in teams
