Job Description
The Coordinator, Talent Search assists middle and high school students within four Lee County public schools with career and post-secondary education exploration. This position is grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education TRiO program.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Education, School Personnel, Guidance and Counseling, Human Services, or related field.
Two years of experience working with programs for disadvantaged youth, TRIO programs, or those serving first generation college students.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Valid driver's license and the ability to travel between four assigned Lee County schools, Florida Gulf Coast University, and other locations to attend meetings or programs.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Education, School Personnel, Guidance and Counseling, Human Services, or related field.
Experience in career and college exploration with post-secondary students.
Bilingual in Spanish or Creole.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of FERPA regulations regarding student information in both electronic and paper format.
Knowledge of TRiO programs and United States Department of Education funding guidelines.
Professional interpersonal and public presentation skills.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and flexibility.
Ability to work independently and effectively with a diverse student body, faculty and staff.
Ability to commit to diversity, disability, and cross-cultural issues, and to initiate, implement, and coordinate projects.
Ability to build and foster effective working relationships and work in a team based environment.

Salary Range
$16.76 - $17.72 hourly ($35,000 - $37,000 annual)

Job Duties

Essential Job Duties
•Coordinates recruitment activities for new program participants, documents eligibility, conducts intake interviews, and assesses participant needs.
•Organizes daily and weekly tutoring sessions, career and college exploration activities, ACT / SAT preparation, and other related activities within the target schools.
•Coordinates workshops for participants on skills needed for successful high school completion and enrollment in postsecondary education.
•Provides orientation sessions for new participants and their parents.
•Advises participants in college preparatory curriculum. Assists with college applications, FAFSA completion, and provides scholarship information to students and parents.
•Organizes and chaperones field trips, college visits, and FGCU summer camps.
•Conducts exit interviews with all participants and program withdrawals.
•Maintains accurate records and metrics on all program activities, including participation, costs, and evaluations. Provides data and assists in the preparation of the Annual Performance Report as requested.
•Maintains regular contact with principals, counselors and teachers within the target schools. Establishes relationships and collaborates with other organizations hosting TRIO programs or programs with first generation college students or at-risk students.
•Assists with the development and revision of policies and procedures.
•Assists with fiscal expenditures and guidelines of the Talent Search grant in accordance with the Federal Education Department General Administrative Regulations ( EDGAR ) and the Office of Management and Budget ( OMB ).
