This position will provide technical knowledge and support to the University's computing environment through the planning, implementation, management, and support of UNIX , Linux and Microsoft Operating Systems, its hardware resources, and the interface and utilization throughout the campus community. This position will assist with research, evaluation, and development proposals for future direction and capacity requirements of the University community.

Thorough knowledge of Unix and Linux hardware and software and appropriate system practices. Thorough knowledge of Windows hardware and software and appropriate system practices. Knowledge of data communications in the LAN environment. Demonstrated ability to interact with computer vendors and University community. Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage time. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to provide technical and project leadership to other staff as required.

Level and type of experience
Experience with operating systems support at the desktop and server level. Experience with systems design, security, and planning.
Preferred knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification
Thorough knowledge of Solaris and LINUX operating systems. Thorough knowledge of AFS , NFS and TSM Software products. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft operating systems. Experience with C, C++, Perl programming languages. Experience with securing servers and documenting security measures for compliance verification.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent related experience.
Conditions of Employment
40 hour work week Monday-Friday; some evenings and weekends; rotating on call.
Annual Salary/Hourly Rate
Salary is commensurate with education and experience and begins at $ - 55,672
