The Department of English and Comparative Literature at San José State University is seeking candidates for a pool of qualified, prospective supervising teachers to supervise English Phase II/III student teachers starting spring 2017. The number of positions hired from this pool will vary from semester to semester, contingent upon student enrollment figures and funding.

Rank: Part-time Temporary
Required Qualifications:
3 years experience teaching in a public high school or middle school
current or former California Single Subject English Teaching Credential or California General Teaching Credential

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience serving as a supervising teacher

Responsibilities:
Observe each student teacher/intern a minimum of 6 times per semester
Submit a copy of the observation form completed for each visit
Serve as mediator between student teachers and mentor teachers; facilitate
communication as needed; convey the requirements for Phase II/III student teaching
Participate in 2 supervisors' meetings each semester
Attend the 7 sessions of the ENED 365: Seminar in English Ed
Attend the PACT overview session
Attend any supervisor/mentor teacher trainings or professional development workshops
offered through the Single Subject Credential Program

Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Starting Date: January 28, 2017
