Department Chair Position, Accounting & MIS

The University of Delaware seeks applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Accounting and MIS. The Chair will be appointed for a five-year term, beginning Fall 2018, or sooner. We seek an innovative and dynamic leader who is committed to advancing diversity and inclusion; and has a vision to advance the department's research and teaching and enhance its national and international reputation. This is a tenured appointment. Strong preference will be given to applicants whose accomplishments are commensurate with an appointment at the rank of Professor, and who have prior administrative experience.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: The successful applicant must have: a Ph.D. received from an AACSB accredited university; a distinguished record of scholarship; a commitment to excellence in instruction; and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with faculty, professional staff, and the administration. The successful applicant must be a change agent with leadership ability to promote continued growth and success in the Department. Qualified applicants possessing leadership experience in stakeholder engagement and development will be highly valued. The Chair should be able to advocate effectively for the needs and interests of the Department, foster a climate of collaboration and collegiality within the Department and across programs, and support the scholarship and professional development of the Department's faculty. The Chair should also demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinarity and to building and furthering ties with other units across the College and the University. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Accounting and MIS is AACSB accredited and consists of 38 permanent faculty members, including 27 tenured or tenure track professors. The department faculty has published extensively in premier Accounting and MIS journals, such as The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Management Science, MIS Quarterly, and Information Systems Research. Academic programs include MS degrees in Accounting (78 students) and Information Systems and Technology Management (21), BS degrees in Accounting (390) and Management Information Systems (121), as well as minors in Global Enterprise Technology (22) and MIS (135). Programs in Business Analytics are being developed as well. The Department has a commitment to learning, scholarship, and engagement with the business community. The Department is among the Public Accounting Report's Top 25 in Undergraduate Rankings (for schools with 22+ full-time accounting faculty). ABOUT LERNER COLLEGE OF BUSINESS & ECONOMICS:The Lerner College of Business & Economics, which is accredited by the AACSB, is home to approximately 4,000 students, including 650 graduate students, and 140 faculty.
