Assistant Professor of Communication

Full/Part Time Status:Full Time Service Schedule:Academic Year

Position Description:

A tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in Communication Studies is available starting August 2017. Responsibilities include 3/3 teaching load (nine credit hours per semester) of classes in Communication Studies. Opportunities exist to teach graduate courses, direct M.A. theses/research projects, and mentor students in co-curricular activities and creative work. The successful candidate is expected to participate in curriculum development as well as department and university governance; demonstrate effective classroom teaching; pursue individual scholarly/creative activity; and engage in professional service. This individual will join an active intellectual community with faculty from diverse teaching and research/creative backgrounds, including communication, digital media, and public relations.

Education Requirements:

Ph.D. in Communication Studies or related field required. ABDs will be considered with evidence of degree completion by August 2017.

Required Qualifications:

Experience teaching and/or academic training in relational communication and/or intercultural communication, as well as demonstrated ability to teach communication theory and research methods, required. Evidence of teaching excellence at college/university level, an established or promising research agenda, and excellent written and oral communication skills also required.

Desirable Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with graduate level coursework in communication studies and demonstrated collaborative communication.
