Behavioral Health and Health Promotion - Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track)

Old Dominion University invites application for a 10-month full-time, tenure-track faculty position in the School of Community and Environmental Health, with primary teaching responsibility in the Master of Public Health Program ( MPH ). Position is available as early as January 2020. Opportunities also exist for mentoring and teaching students in Old Dominion University s PhD in Health Services Research Program, BSHS or BSPH Program. Incoming faculty will be expected to maintain an active program of research, teaching, and service. We are a growing, diverse multidisciplinary environment and are building a diverse faculty. We are searching for a scholar and professional committed to public health research, teaching, service and practice. The position reports to the Chair of the School of Community and Environmental Health in the College of Health Sciences (http://www.hs.odu.edu)
The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active program of graduate teaching/advising, research, publication, pursuit of external research funding, and assist CEPH accreditation process. Appointment requires a record of research in a public health related area and a strong public health background.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Demonstrated ability and experience in graduate level teaching in Social/Behavioral Sciences (Health Behavior and Health Promotion)
Demonstrated strong potential for research independence in social-behavioral sciences and public health
Demonstrated ability to work with others and across departments
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
Earned terminal degree (e.g., PhD, ScD, DrPH) in social and behavioral sciences or health behavior/health promotion in public health, or a comparable/closely related discipline/field from an accredited public health program, school, or institution

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated strong potential for or evidence of securing external research funding
Track record of community research and/or outreach/ engagement
Experience advising and mentoring graduate or undergraduate students in public health
Experience with distinct teaching delivery formats
Collaborative research potential and experience or track record of collaborative, interdisciplinary research and experience
Understanding of or experience with the CEPH accreditation process
Demonstrated experience in program planning, implementation; or qualitative research methods; or social/behavioral public health intervention programs
