The University of Delaware's Professional Development Center for Educators is committed to working with and supporting educators in Delaware schools by designing and delivering high quality professional development, coaching, and engaging and influencing state policy related to standards, training, and working conditions for school leaders. This position requires someone with significant PK-12 educational leadership experience and strong research skills who is committed to developing school leaders who are prepared to tackle the challenges of leading our schools in the 21st-century. Must have experience as a school and district administrator with a strong record of instructional leadership, organizational improvement efforts, developing, supervising, and mentoring educators. Demonstrate the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, including state department, district, and school administrators; district and state board members; teachers; parents; and community members. Experience working in low-performing urban or rural schools or in turnaround school is preferred. The position reports to the Director of the Professional Development Center for Educators.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop partnerships with school districts and schools to deliver customized professional development and coaching services to school leaders
  • Become knowledgeable about state regulations and policy related to professional standards for educational leaders, principal pipeline and preparation, succession planning, Delaware's performance appraisal system for educators (DPAS II) and the alternative systems being piloted in Delaware districts, and working conditions for school leaders; evidence knowledge about national policies and standards
  • Develop tools and resources to support the work of school leaders
  • Conduct and manage quantitative and qualitative data collection
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative studies
  • Write scholarly articles and submit for publication
  • Write articles for the PDCE newsletters
  • Analyze, evaluate, and determine the impact of professional development and coaching services to educators
  • Conduct internal quality audits of PDCE signature programs
  • Conduct focus groups and needs assessments
  • Apply for external funding, such as IES grants, and respond to DOE RFP's
  • Provide policy leadership by serving on state and national committees
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree required
  • Strong background in models for evaluating educators
  • Dissertation/Research in school improvement and or school leadership
  • Minimum of 4 to 5 years as a school administrator with a proven track record with school improvement
  • Previous work experience in PreK-12 environment that includes experience with curriculum, instruction and/or assessment
  • Experience working with urban or diverse populations
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis
  • Competent in all Windows programs (Access, Excel, Word, Etc.)
  • Strong writing skills required; previous publications a plus
  • Experience in delivering professional development
  • Experience with program evaluations/needs assessment
  • Ability to provide actionable feedback and coach to improvement
  • Experience conducting focus groups
  • Knowledge and experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating School Improvement Plans.
  • Experience evaluating teachers and administrators
  • Experience with grant writing preferred
