Job Description
As the Renewable/Sustainable Energy Engineering, Assistant/Associate Professor you will teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, as applicable; be involved in course and/or curriculum development; research/scholarship; participate on College and University committees and/or initiatives.

Required Qualifications
Earned Doctorate in Agricultural or Biological Engineering, Environmental or Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation.
Experience conducting research in renewable/sustainable energy engineering.
ABD will be considered if degree conferred by August 7, 2017. If successful candidate is ABD , appointment will be made at a Lecturer level on a fixed term contract.

Preferred Qualifications
Renewable/Sustainable Energy Engineering experience with the ability to develop and teach new courses in renewable/sustainable energy engineering at both the graduate and undergraduate level.
Experience and the ability to teach engineering entrepreneurship is a plus.
A rank-appropriate record of educational and/or scientific publications in scholarly journals and/or industrial experience.
Professional registration or the ability to become registered. Ability to conduct research in some aspect of renewable/sustainable energy engineering.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated ability to work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment in a rapidly growing regional comprehensive university with a focus on assessing and demonstrating excellence in student learning.
Experience or commitment to the use of technology in distance learning & university teaching. Interest in collaborating both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning. Must value continued scholarship and service to the school and university.

Essential Job Duties
Teaches appropriate, assigned undergraduate and graduate engineering courses, including discipline-specific renewable/sustainable energy engineering courses as well as interdisciplinary courses.
Becomes active and involved in working with the Backe Chair on planning and implementation of research efforts in renewable energy engineering and sustainability.
The U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering is dedicated to quality education, research, and service.
Works closely with the Backe Chair in Renewable Energy and the Chair of the Department of Environment and Civil Engineering.
All faculty are expected to engage in a continuous and outcomes-based assessment process.

Appointment will be made on a 9-month multi-year appointment basis available August 2017.
Ability to teach new and/or existing courses in renewable/sustainable energy engineering as well as in general engineering topics at the undergraduate and graduate level and provide supervision for graduate theses.
Renewable/Sustainable Energy Engineering faculty members will work closely with the Chair of the Department of Environmental and Civil Engineering and the Backe Chair in Renewable Energy.
