Research Scientist, Senseable City Lab

Job Description:
RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP), to supervise and contribute directly to the research activities of the Senseable City Lab in the fields of urban science and transportation, network analytics, and data interfaces. Will focus on performing network and big data analytics aimed at optimization and effective management of current and future urban mobility systems; modeling and analyzing the dynamics of fleets composed of autonomous vehicles and assessing their impact on the urban transportation network; exploring new design paradigms for providing real time information to drivers as they move throughout the built environment; and analysis of human mobility at city and regional levels. In addition to performing these research activities, will develop opportunities for new research projects and initiatives by presenting the lab work to potential new sponsors. General responsibilities include theoretical and applied research; publication of research outcomes in leading journals and conferences; supporting fellow and student involvement in Senseable City Lab projects; and actively engaging thought leaders and stakeholders to improve urban mobility by moving ideas to action. Specific responsibilities include research design and supervision, analytical modeling and definition of the data processing methodology, collaboration with stakeholders, and delivering talks and presentations at major venues.

Job Requirements:
REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in computer science, physics, mathematics, or related field; a proven track record of outstanding research; excellent publication record; ability to supervise research activities; and experience coordinating/managing research projects. Job #14009
